Location Component

1. Entry

Settings -> Components -> Location

Tap the card to open detailed location settings.

2. What this component does

The location component attaches place-related metadata to a memo so that future review answers the question: “where did this happen?”

It is useful for:

  • Travel notes
  • Offline meeting or visit notes
  • Observations that need place context

3. What you can configure

Inside location settings, you can:

  • Enable or disable location
  • Choose a location provider
  • Enter the required API key for that provider
  • Adjust the precision of location text attached to the memo

Current providers include:

  • AMap Web API
  • Baidu
  • Google

Location precision can be set to:

  • Province
  • City
  • District
  • Street

4. How to use it

  1. Enable Location in component settings.
  2. Choose a provider and enter the required key.
  3. Grant system location permission.
  4. Tap the location button in editor or quick input.
  5. When location is resolved, the location text is attached to the current memo and can still be removed manually.

5. Practical tips

  • Use City or District if you only need rough context
  • Use Street when you are recording route-level or neighborhood-level observations
  • If privacy matters more, avoid overly fine precision

6. Common questions

Why does location fail?

Check these first:

  • Whether system location permission is granted
  • Whether device location service is turned on
  • Whether the provider API key is configured correctly
  • Whether the network is available

Why is the location too broad or too detailed?

That is controlled by Location precision. You can switch between Province / City / District / Street in component settings.
